This unit aims to increase students’ awareness of how the built form is generated and to foster their ability to make an informed intervention.

Objectives

To introduce and explore the five urban design qualities.

To reinforce learning through the application of urban design qualities to a selected site using 3D modelling.

Student learning & output

Students increase their awareness of urban design issues as they relate to the built environment.

Students create a 3D model, which addresses urban design problems and allows the students to demonstrate their comprehension of the principles involved.

Students practice their negotiation skills and teamwork abilities in the formation of their design solution.
